Bullying: Awareness
Onsite

Practical knowledge, legality of issues, and understanding the human dynamic make this course the first step for the entire educational community in preventing bullying.

Dynamic professional trainers with legal and educational backgrounds deliver consistent, clear and practical information to inform, protect and inspire participants to create behavioral change.   Audience specific courses are tailored to address the issues for each educational level and member of the educational community.  2-hour to 4-hour courses are available depending upon the audience.

Participants will learn:

  • To identify different types of bullying – relational aggression, cyberbullying, etc.
  • The behavioral signs to look for in victims and perpetrators
  • The bullying dynamic and the roles of students, parents, and educators
  • The school district’s responsibilities and legal exposure regarding bullying and harassment
  • The difference that each person can make to protect students from harm

Bulling Awareness Training Curriculum
includes but is not limited to the following:
  1. What constitutes bullying and what the school district’s anti-bullying and harassment policies should contain.
  2. The difference between a bullying incident and a conflict (so that inappropriate referrals are not made).
  3. The behaviors that constitute various forms of illegal harassment based on race/national origin, gender, sex, sexual orientation, or disability.
  4. Employee responsibility to protect students and what the district may be liable for should they fail in this.
  5. The signs and symptoms that a child is a target of bullying behavior.
  6. Classroom or playground interventions and disciplinary actions that can be implemented.
  7. How to respond in a legally sound manner should a student report bullying or harassment to an employee or should the employee observe an incident.
  8. Communicating that the school district administration is serious about these issues and considers it their job to intervene in ALL instances of bullying and harassment that occur.
  9. Knowing the student code of conduct and procedures and consequences for violations.
  10. How and when to document and report incidents.
  11. What matters to refer to site administrators
