About Maureen Charles
Chief Operating Officer and Director of Distance Learning for McGrath Training Systems, Maureen Charles has been an education and training professional for over 26 years. Ms. Charles began her career in bilingual ed and special education. In 1991, she left traditional education for the training and development field where she has excelled in management and executive positions.
With McGrath since 1998, Maureen blends her experience in the school setting with her expertise in public speaking and professional development. A dynamic and powerful public speaker herself, Ms. Charles has a passion for developing leaders and has trained hundreds of people to successfully train, present and speak publicly.
Maureen is associate producer of the McGrath Lead with SUCCEED 6-video training system for school administrators as well as our 7-video series for elementary school students and personnel The Early Faces of Violence: From Schoolyard Bullying and Ridicule to Sexual Harassment. Sharp viewers may even catch her cameo appearance in A Culture of Cruelty.
A talented writer and editor, Maureen enjoys collaborating with author Mary Jo McGrath and instructional designer, Jill Proudfoot, on developing McGrath books, manuals, newsletter articles, and other written materials. She has produced, revised and/or edited all of the current training manuals and distance learning courses offered by McGrath. Ms. Charles is a contributing author of School Bullying: Tools for Avoiding Harm and Liability (Corwin Press, 2007). In her free time, Maureen is deeply involved in community service, volunteering as a course leader on the topic of self-expression and leadership, training ordinary citizens to lead their communities in projects that transform lives and ignite powerful, positive action. A reformed "couch potato" since 2003, she has now run 4 half-marathons and one full marathon raising, along with her husband, over $27,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. |
